Our Legacy
A lodge born out of guiding
What began as a small guide service on the San Juan more than 25 years ago has grown into a lodge and community that anglers return to year after year. Fisheads earned its loyal following in the early days for its personable and exceptional guides. With more anglers returning season after season, the need for lodging became clear. In the early 2010s, Fisheads Lodge was born, offering the same care and expertise that defined our guide service, now woven into every aspect of our guests' stays.
The San Juan River
Year-round trophy trout, remarkable abundance
The San Juan River is legendary among fly fishers for good reason. Our guides regularly help anglers land trout over 24 inches, and catches topping 30 inches are far from rare. However, size isn’t the only story here. With an astonishing 12,000 to 15,000 trout per mile, this tailwater fishery offers consistent action and endless opportunity. The fish feed almost nonstop, drawn to the tiny midges that drift through its waters.

Its wide, gentle currents and open water make casting simple, and with thousands of trout per mile, there’s always a chance to hook up.
